Click your heels three times because there is no place like your neighborhood, school, church, or home. Red Shoe New Orleans was created by Jeraul Mackey, a life-long resident of New Orleans, to give residents a voice in the rebuilding process. With the invaluable support of his partner Royce Duplessis, design guru Mike Fretto and Reed Daigle this initiative continues to grow into a movement centered on civic engagement and social responsibility.
Red Shoe New Orleans is a growing movement giving the people an authentic and substantive way to communicate with each other, concerned citizens, and their elected officials. Politicians have their press conference; political activists-their protest, but what do the people have? Who gives hope to my brother displaced in Texas or friend returning to New Orleans? You do! We do! We, the people, have the power to sustain and be sustained by each other. Red Shoe New Orleans seeks to raise the morale of displaced, returned, and adopted New Orleanians by connecting them to the recovery process at various points.
Through an expansive awareness campaign, including but not limited to, letter drives, community service projects, social events, local and national remembrance days, Red Shoe New Orleans will promote a single message of there are no better people than New Orleanians, and, figuratively and literally, there is no place like home.

The mission of Red Shoe New Orleans is to create a regional campaign that reminds local citizens, displaced residents, and concerned people of New Orleans' value to the nation and the influence each person, especially New Orleanians, possess when being proactive in determining the future of their beloved city. An important secondary goal of the campaign is to support local entrepreneurship and celebrate the cultural history of New Orleans.
The mission of the Red Shoe New Orleans will be accomplished through a strategic awareness campaign, developing strong local support and building regional partnerships with states affected by the hurricane and those who received a large amount of displaced residents.
1. Develop a written communication campaign that will provide residents and concerned citizens with a simple format to share their stories, views, and concerns;
2. Create and sell shirts, posters, and postcards that will give Red Shoe New Orleans the financial capacity to coordinate social and service events to address the needs of citizens;
3. Host local social and service events that will bring displaced and returned residents together to uplift the attitude and morale of the community;
4. Coordinate regional awareness days that will allow concern citizens to actively support the city?s recovery efforts, while reminding the nation of their needs.
